Car accident kills an elderly woman in New Jersey

A major cause of fatalities in New Jersey and elsewhere throughout the U.S. is car accidents. Many of these car accidents are due to distracted driving, including texting and driving, among other causes.

In a recent car accident, a 60-year-old woman lost her life when her vehicle collided with a pickup truck. The incident occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday, September 20. Her vehicle was headed south as it entered the conjunction of Route 36, when it was struck by a pickup truck travelling east on Route 36.

Following the collision, another car driving behind the pickup, driven by a 28-year old man, struck both vehicles. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The pickup truck driver was treated for undisclosed injuries and sent to a local hospital. The injuries of the third driver were minor, and it was unknown whether he was sent to the hospital as well.

A portion of the road was closed off due to the investigation. Although investigations were ongoing and the cause of the accident was still unknown, if it can be proven that one of the drivers was at fault, then that driver may have to pay compensation to the victim or victims. Compensation could cover medical bills and lost future wages for the benefit of the family of the deceased in the event of a fatality. Compensation in personal injury cases is a sensitive issue, and anyone injured in a car accident will likely need to get more information to determine whether or not they are entitled to compensation following an accident.
