Worker suffers serious injuries in Parkway crane accident

Residents of Camden County, New Jersey, know that any workplace injury can impact a worker both emotionally and financially. Serious on-the-job injuries or workplace accidents can also lead to temporary or permanent disability, or even death, causing further financial troubles.

In a recent accident a construction worker was seriously injured while operating a construction crane in a Garden State Parkway construction zone in Brick Township. Police officers stated that the crane the worker was operating overturned and fell down an embankment, ejecting the worker into water.

The serious injuries the worker suffered in the accident forced authorities to airlift him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment. A state police spokesperson did not release the worker's identity. Other details about the rescue efforts and the circumstances under which the crane overturned were not available immediately.

A spokesperson stated that the incident, which took place near mile-marker 91 in the construction zone on the northbound side of the Parkway, had occurred off the roadway and no lanes of the roadway were shut down. However, the incident resulted in slow moving traffic in the northbound lanes approaching the incident.

A worker who is hurt in a work-related incident or injured on the workplace premises may be entitled to receive workers' compensation benefits. How much compensation a worker may receive will depend on various factors, including death and the severity of injuries. A worker has the legal right to seek compensation, including medical expenses and lost wages, from the responsible party or parties in the event of an injury in a workplace accident.
