Crash involving tractor-trailer claims 39-year-old man's life

One of the most common cause of truck accidents is driving fatigued, where operators drive for long stretches without stopping for adequate rest. Lack of sleep can impair the senses or reaction times, which could lead to a crash.

The westbound lanes of a busy New Jersey highway were shut for several afternoon hours after a tractor-trailer struck an overpass bridge, crushing a car. According to witnesses, the accident scene was unnerving because a 39-year-old man was killed as a result of the accident.

According to Rutherford, New Jersey police, as soon as the tractor-trailer hit the overpass, the back container slid off the trailer and crushed a car. A 3-mile backup ensued, snarling the evening traffic commute. State transit official spokespersons informed commuters about the crash and warned them to expect delays during the drive home from work.

According to data from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the company hauling the trailer does not have a good safety record and violated some rules in the past. It is not clear why the tractor-trailer driver tried to drive under the overpass, given the maximum height tolerance.

Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs is one of the most common causes of car accidents. Whether it's a drunk car driver or a sleep-deprived truck driver, accidents can be horrific and lead to catastrophic injuries or irreparable damages. It is important for drivers to keep traffic safety rules in mind when behind the wheel and that the driver at fault may be responsible for paying enormous compensation to the victim of a damaging or deadly accident.
