Accident kills several New Jersey family members, neighbor

A head-on collision on a neighborhood street in Camden County left four people dead. Three of the victims were family members, and the other victim was a neighbor of the family who lived just down the street and was traveling alone. In addition to the deaths, two other people were critically injured. The condition of the two people who were injured was described as "stable."

An investigation in to the cause of the accident is still underway, and police are still awaiting medical reports that might show whether either of the drivers were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Both drivers died in the crash.

While police were unwilling to discuss speed or whether the victims were wearing seatbelts, they did indicate that one of the two vehicles swerved in to the path of the other vehicle, which was oncoming from the opposite direction. It was not clear why the vehicle crossed the center line and in to the path of oncoming traffic.

Even though the negligent party likely died in the crash, as in the case of other car accidents of this nature, victims can still pursue a claim against the person's estate and may be able to collect the proceeds from the negligent driver's insurance policy. After this profound loss, surviving family members are going to require financial compensation to cover expenses and get back on their feet. Those who were injured are also going to need help paying bills and making ends meet while they recovery from their injuries. A personal injury attorney in New Jersey would likely be able to provide valuable assistance to both surviving victims and the families of those who lost their lives.
